Harrogate's Cairn Hotel has been put on the market with an asking price of £6million.

The hotel on Ripon Road is being marketed on a leasehold basis by specialist property adviser Christie & Co.

It is one of eight hotels being offered for sale across Scotland and northern England by the administrators of Strathmore Hotels Limited.

James Dewar and Alistair McAlinden of Interpath were appointed joint administrators on 11th August.

The Cairn has welcomed guests since 1890 and has 135 bedrooms, extensive function facilities and a restaurant seating 350 people.

Christie & Co says the hotel offers potential for redevelopment alongside its established year-round trade.

Alistair McAlinden, joint administrator and head of Interpath in Scotland, said:

“We are pleased to be able to bring this very well-established portfolio of hotels to the market as a going concern.”

He added that the portfolio had already attracted significant interest.

The eight hotels can be bought individually, in smaller groups or together, with interest expected from hotel operators and investors.
