Harlow Carr's Glow trail to celebrate 10 years with new displays

Glow is returning to RHS Garden Harlow Carr for a tenth year.

RHS Harlow Carr's Glow light trail will return this winter with new displays to mark its tenth anniversary.

Tickets are now on sale for the event, which runs on selected dates from 26th November to 30th December.

Visitors will follow an after-dark route through the Harrogate garden, featuring giant illuminated dandelions, shimmering columns of light and a neon tree beside the Queen Mother’s Lake.

The Winter Walk will be illuminated for the first time, while the popular Bubble Man will return every evening to create giant bubbles that reflect the lights as they drift through the garden.

Liz Thwaite, Head of RHS Garden Harlow Carr, said:

“Glow has become a treasured festive tradition for so many families across Yorkshire and beyond, and we're delighted to be celebrating its tenth anniversary this year.

“The garden looks completely different after dark, and visitors can expect an unforgettable experience filled with light, colour, creativity and moments of wonder at every turn.

“With brand-new installations, interactive elements and the Winter Walk illuminated for the first time, 2026 promises to be our most spectacular Glow yet.”

Among this year’s additions is ‘Common Ground’, a 30-metre illuminated sculpture created by Yorkshire artists Are You Playing Out? and jointly commissioned with Light Night Leeds.

The installation uses sound-reactive LED lights to create pulses and waves of colour.

Members of the public are invited to submit recordings about places where they feel most connected to nature by 9th October, helping to shape the display.

Courtney Spencer, Curator of Light Night Leeds, said:

“Here in Yorkshire, we're fortunate to have extraordinary countryside alongside the parks, woodlands and green spaces within our cities.

“Common Ground celebrates the personal connections we make with nature, whether on a walk across the moors or in a quiet corner of a neighbourhood park.

“We're delighted to co-commission this work with RHS Garden Harlow Carr, bringing together people's voices to explore those connections through sculpture, light and sound.”

Visitors will be able to buy festive food and drinks along the route, toast marshmallows and browse gifts from regional craftspeople in the garden’s historic Bath House.

A new adults-only Glow Premium Experience will combine the trail with hot chocolate, a festive meal at Bettys Café Tea Rooms, live music and a gift bag.

A dedicated Glow SEN Night will take place on Sunday 6th December, offering a quieter, less crowded visit with reduced noise and fewer sensory distractions. Up to two accompanying carers can attend free.

Standard tickets start at £9.50 for adult RHS members and £5 for children. Non-member prices start at £15.25 for adults and £8.75 for children, with under-fives admitted free.

All tickets must be booked in advance through the RHS Harlow Carr website.
