Ashville pupils celebrate GCSE success as new Sixth Form awaits

Ashville College pupils celebrate their GCSE results.

Pupils at Ashville are celebrating after achieving another strong set of GCSE results.

The Harrogate school has praised its Year 11 cohort following results day, with pupils now preparing for the next stage of their education.

Many will progress to Six @ Ashville, the school's newly reimagined Sixth Form Centre, which aims to prepare students for university, careers and life beyond education.

Head of Ashville Rhiannon Wilkinson said:

“Our whole school community is thrilled to congratulate our Year 11 cohort on their fantastic GCSE results today.

“Every success has been well-deserved and we are so proud of what these pupils have achieved both in and out of the classroom.

“They can now focus on the future and the global opportunities that lie ahead.”

Among those celebrating is Ciara Nixon, who combined her academic studies with success in drama and sport.

Ciara was named Ashville's Young Actor of the Year, played a lead role in the school's production of Sister Act and represented Ashville in hockey and netball.

Natalie Wong also achieved GCSE success alongside her musical pursuits.

She recently played alongside former Ashville pupil and classical pianist Dr Blanc Chun-Pong Wan during a masterclass at the school.

Four pupils who were awarded academic scholarships ahead of their GCSE years also achieved strong results.

Bella Precious, Oliver McAllister, Max Sochart and Lily Ross earned the scholarships following their work and progress during Years 7 to 9.

Mrs Wilkinson said the school's new Sixth Form experience would offer pupils a range of opportunities as they continue their education.

She said:

“We look forward to welcoming pupils to Six @ Ashville, our new-look Sixth Form Centre with the unique and reimagined experience it offers.

“It is tailored to open up increasingly varied pathways to young people to ensure they are exam ready, university ready, career ready, and life ready for a rapidly changing world.”

She added:

"This success is never a solo journey and everyone at Ashville would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our first-rate teaching and support staff, who have again gone above and beyond to guide our pupils including personalised mentoring.

“Excellent results like today’s aren’t achieved in isolation and they are a testament to the teamwork that exists between pupils, staff and parents.”
