New taproom set to launch on Kirkgate in Ripon A new independent bottleshop and taproom will be opening in Ripon in the coming weeks. The Portly Pig has teased it will be opening on Kirkgate "soon", offering "Yorkshire pours" to the city's residents. The new owners are hoping to have outdoor seating and tables, subject to council licensing. A spokesperson for The Portly Pig teased:
"We're an independent bottleshop and taproom, serving Yorkshire pours to Yorkshire folk! "Just getting things looking dapper ready to welcome you all in. Won't be long..."The unit on Kirkgate was previously occupied by 'Oasis Florists.' Speaking about the announcement, one resident said:
"Sweet! Something I'll definitely check out. We're lacking decent beer."
Another added:
"Ripon has been missing this, or at least I have! Can’t wait to come down. A new local, superb!"
