Ripon has ranked fourth in a study of online searches about missing parcels.

Courier marketplace Porta Delivery analysed searches for more than 500 related terms, including searches mentioning Royal Mail, Evri, UPS and Amazon.

It found an average of 703 searches per month for every 100,000 people in Ripon.

Bangor in Wales topped the ranking with 819 searches per 100,000 people, followed by Chichester and Truro.

Across the UK, “royal mail missing parcel” was the most searched term in the study, averaging 6,958 searches a month.

Searches for “dpd missing parcel” and “evri missing parcel” averaged 1,367 and 1,104 respectively.

The figures measure searches, rather than the number of parcels that have gone missing.

Ed Spence, CEO and co-founder of Porta Delivery, said:

“Getting a delivery is a stressful experience even without the worry that it might not arrive.

“People may need to take time off from work or move their schedules around to suit the delivery company instead of the other way around.”

Lichfield completed the top five, followed by Salisbury and Ely.
