Harrogate pub manager to take on Everest trek for hospitality charity

The manager of a popular Harrogate pub is preparing for a 19-day trek to Everest Base Camp to fundraise for a charity that supported her.

Louise Jackson, who manages The Kestrel on Wetherby Road, hopes to raise £7,500 for The Burnt Chef Project, which provides mental health support to people working in hospitality.

Louise has worked in the industry since she was 18.

Speaking about the charity, she said:

"I had an unfortunate incident in London and used The Burnt Chef Project's support line after my shift. They kept me going."

After moving to Knaresborough, Louise became an ambassador for the charity.

Two and a half years later, she is a Chief Ambassador and has delivered mental health talks at colleges across the North East.

She is now taking on the Everest Base Camp trek to support the service she once turned to herself.

The Burnt Chef Project offers free, round-the-clock support in multiple languages, including therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, life coaching and advice on legal and financial matters.
