Pupils at a school near Knaresborough have raised £1,370 for charity as part of a sponsored walk.
Pupils at Staveley Community Primary School held the walk at Staveley Nature Reserve as part of Children's Mental Health Week.
It was organised by the school alongside Sporting Influence, who deliver PE lessons and were keen to get involved in supporting children’s mental health.
The aim of the day was to promote the importance of physical activity for wellbeing, while also raising money for a meaningful local cause.
Children from all year groups took part in the walk, making their way around the scenic paths of Staveley Nature Reserve whilst the younger children did a walk around the school field.
Class teacher Miss Holberry said:
“Children’s Mental Health Week gives us a valuable opportunity to talk openly about feelings, resilience and supporting one another.
"Being outdoors at Staveley Nature Reserve helped us to show the children how important it is to get outdoors. I’m so proud of how much the children managed to raise for such a worthy cause."
This year, the school chose to support SASH (Safe and Sound Homes), a Yorkshire-based charity dedicated to preventing homelessness among young people aged 16–25.
SASH provides emergency accommodation and ongoing support to vulnerable young people, helping them to stay safe and work towards a brighter future.
