Festival favourites Oddsocks are returning to Harrogate this summer with a fresh, family-friendly take on one of Shakespeare's best-loved plays.
The travelling theatre company will perform Romeo and Juliet at RHS Garden Harlow Carr on Tuesday 30th June and Wednesday 1st July as part of Harrogate International Festivals' summer programme.
Known for their energetic performances, slapstick humour and audience participation, Oddsocks promise a lively retelling of the classic love story, complete with larger-than-life characters and plenty of laughs.
The company has been a regular feature of Harrogate's summer festival for more than 30 years.
Creative Producer Elli Mackenzie said:
"Our audience in Harrogate is always so supportive and fun to play to and the beautiful surroundings at RHS Harlow Carr make the experience all the better.
The future of our work and live theatre in general relies heavily on organisations such as Harrogate International Festivals, who have booked our productions since the early 1990s. It's always a highlight to return."
Sharon Canavar, Chief Executive of Harrogate International Festivals, said:
"Summer in Harrogate just wouldn't be the same without an Oddsocks appearance and we're delighted to welcome them back.
They have been coming here as part of our summer programme for more than 30 years, bringing joy and laughter to generations of families.
So pack your picnic, rugs and folding chairs, and get ready for an evening of laughter and mayhem that is suitable for all ages."
Founded in 1989, Oddsocks has built a reputation for making Shakespeare accessible and entertaining for audiences of all ages.
Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic, blankets or folding chairs and tickets can be purchased here.
