Harrogate trains disrupted following death on railway

LNER services through Harrogate were disrupted due to a casualty yesterday.

A person has died after being struck by a train during an incident which caused disruption to LNER services serving Harrogate.

Emergency services were called to Potters Bar station in Hertfordshire yesterday (Thursday) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

British Transport Police confirmed that a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

A police spokesperson said:

“Officers attended along with paramedics but sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

The incident led to disruption on the East Coast Main Line between London King's Cross and Stevenage, affecting LNER services across the network.

Passengers faced delays, alterations and cancellations as a result.

LNER services connect Harrogate directly with London King's Cross.
