Irving Weaver appointed Life President of Harrogate Town AFC

Irving Weaver was chairman and owner of Harrogate Town AFC from 2011 to 2026.

Former Harrogate Town AFC chairman and owner, Irving Weaver, has been appointed Life President of the club in recognition of his 15 years of service.

Irving took ownership of the club in 2011 and oversaw the most successful period in its history, including two promotions, a first appearance in the English Football League and an FA Trophy victory at Wembley.

The appointment follows the completion of the club's ownership transition last Friday, with Jonathan Blezard succeeding Irving as chairman.

Jonathan said:

“One of the first things Simon and I wanted to do following completion was to ensure that Irving’s contribution to Harrogate Town was recognised appropriately in a meaningful and lasting way.

“What Irving has achieved here is remarkable. He took a small football club and, through years of personal commitment, determination and investment, helped take it to heights that few could have imagined.

“Having spent a great deal of time with Irving over the past year, I have come to understand just how much this football club means to him, and how much of himself he has put into it.

Jonathan wished Irving a well deserved retirement, but stressed that he will continue to welcome his predecessor's involvement at the club, adding:

“Irving will remain a valued presence around the Club, and I will personally welcome the opportunity to continue drawing on his experience, knowledge and advice as we take Harrogate Town forward.

“I have enormous respect for what Irving has achieved and feel a real responsibility to protect and build upon his legacy. It is a privilege to appoint Irving as Life President, and on behalf of everyone associated with the Club, I would like to thank him for everything he has done.”

The honorary role recognises Irving's contribution to Harrogate Town while allowing him to remain involved with the club following his retirement.
