Killinghall Village Hall has completed a £27,000 project to reduce its energy use and running costs.
Supported by National Lottery funding, the improvements were delivered by Harrogate-based energy consultancy Energy Oasis.
The works include roof-mounted solar panels, energy-efficient LED lighting, upgraded emergency lighting and fans to improve the distribution of warm air within the hall.
The solar panels are expected to meet half of the building’s electricity demand.

Together with the new LED lighting, they are estimated to save almost £2,500 a year and reduce annual carbon emissions by 2.8 tonnes.
The project was formally handed over on Friday 2nd October, when representatives from Energy Oasis and the village hall met to mark its completion.
Mike Kaye, Founder and Director of Energy Oasis, said:
“Working with the committee at Killinghall Village Hall has been a great experience.
"We wanted to help them make the most of their National Lottery funding by reducing electricity consumption through replacing the old lighting with intelligent LED systems, while also upgrading the emergency lighting to ensure compliance with current legislation.
“Installing solar PV will allow the hall to generate some of its own electricity, helping to improve energy resilience and deliver long-term financial benefits.
"Ultimately, it's about helping to ensure the building can continue serving the community for generations to come.”
The project, valued at £27,018, also included an energy audit to identify opportunities to reduce consumption.

The new fans are expected to help lower heating costs by circulating warm air more evenly around the building.
Meryll Castle, Chairperson of Killinghall Village Hall, said:
“We would like to express our sincere thanks to Mike and his team for their dedicated work installing our solar panels and new electrical systems.
“Their hard work and ability to work around the village hall's scheduled events were second to none. We were also impressed by the professionalism of all the staff, who were friendly, helpful and keen to assist throughout the project.
“We look forward to reaping the benefits of our new system. Thank you.”
