Fountains Abbey prepares to host two-day Christmas market

The Christmas market is making a return to Fountains Abbey next month.

A two-day Christmas artisan market is returning to Fountains Abbey next month.

The Little Bird Christmas Artisan Market will take place on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th November, bringing together more than 40 independent makers, artists and food producers each day.

Returning for its second year, the event will feature handcrafted jewellery, ceramics, homeware, textiles, artwork, fashion accessories, food and drink, alongside Christmas gifts and decorations.

Jackie Crozier, Managing Director of Little Bird Made, said:

“We're absolutely delighted to be returning to Fountains Abbey for a second year. The response to our inaugural Christmas market exceeded all expectations, and we're excited to welcome visitors back for another unforgettable weekend.

“Every trader has been carefully selected for the quality and originality of their work, creating a luxury shopping experience where every purchase has a story behind it.

“There's something incredibly special about discovering beautifully handcrafted gifts in such a magnificent historic setting, and we're proud to bring together some of the finest independent makers from across the region.”

The market will welcome a mix of returning traders and new businesses to the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Jason Scully, General Manager of Fountains Abbey, said:

“We’re delighted to be welcoming Little Bird Made back to Fountains Abbey for a second year. Their artisan Christmas market was a fantastic addition to our festive offer last year, and we’re excited to see the team return this Christmas.

“The market provides another wonderful opportunity for people to experience Fountains Abbey during the festive season while supporting independent makers and small businesses.

“We know our visitors will enjoy browsing the wide range of market stalls, and we hope they’ll discover some unique gifts and seasonal treats to take home too.”

Among those returning are Annie Maguire, owner of A Little Dickie Bird, and Michelle Scott, owner of Clayful Creations.

Annie Maguire said:

“Returning to Fountains Abbey with Little Bird Made was an easy decision for us. We are really excited to be trading again at this gorgeous venue for another fabulous Christmas Artisan Market.

“There is always an amazing range of artisan stalls and independent small businesses bringing unique gifts and one-of-a-kind finds.

“Last year's event was beautifully organised and attracted visitors who genuinely appreciated handmade, thoughtfully designed products. We're delighted to be back for a second year.”

Michelle Scott said:

“Fountains Abbey is truly magical, and to be able to showcase my small business in such an iconic setting again is incredibly special.

“I’m so grateful to Little Bird Made and Fountains Abbey for creating opportunities like this for independent businesses, giving us access to incredible venues and footfall while allowing us to be part of something wonderfully memorable at Christmas.”

Entry to the market is free, although normal admission charges apply to Fountains Abbey.

Admission is free for National Trust and English Heritage members.

Tickets for entry to the abbey can be purchased through the National Trust website.
