The Met Office has issued an amber warning for extreme heat covering North Yorkshire, with the alert running from Wednesday night through Thursday.
As the temperature climbs into the low 30s across the Harrogate district, it's the combination of intense heat, high humidity and exceptionally warm overnight temperatures that has prompted the warning.
The Met Office says there is an increased risk of impacts on health, travel and infrastructure, with vulnerable people most at risk. Warm nights can also make it much harder for our bodies to recover from the daytime heat.

Met Office forecast for Ripon
The advice issued is to carry water, wear light clothing, seek shade during the hottest part of the day and never leave children or pets in parked vehicles, even for a few minutes.
It's also worth checking in on elderly neighbours, friends or relatives who may struggle in the heat.
The heat is expected to peak towards the end of the week, before conditions gradually become less intense over the weekend.
