Henshaws BedFest raises record-breaking £30,000 for charity

Henshaws' Bedfest was a huge success

Henshaws has celebrated a record-breaking year for BedFest after the festival raised £30,000 to support people living with sight loss and disabilities across the North of England.

More than 900 people attended the event at Henshaws Arts & Crafts Centre in Knaresborough on Saturday 13th June, enjoying a full day of live music, food, drink and entertainment alongside the Great Knaresborough Bed Race.

The annual festival brought together local businesses, performers, volunteers and supporters, with 14 musicians and DJs performing across two stages. Highlights included sets from Henshaws ambassador DJ Rory Hoy and the charity's own Henshaws Hot Spots, showcasing the talents of people supported by the organisation.

This year's BedFest was supported by headline sponsor Specsavers, alongside event sponsors Ison Harrison and Hartlaw.

Andy Bryer, Retail Director at Specsavers Harrogate said:

"We're very proud of the team at Henshaws for organising yet another fabulous event that supports an important cause and helps the team continue their incredible work with people across North Yorkshire.

It's a testament not just to Henshaws, but also to the people of Harrogate and the surrounding areas, who have raised a record amount of funds. This truly cements BedFest as a key event on our community calendar."

Clare Cunningham, Fundraiser at Henshaws, said the charity was "absolutely delighted" with the amount raised.

She said:

"BedFest is such a special event because it not only raises essential funds but also gives us the opportunity to open our doors and welcome hundreds of people into Henshaws Arts & Crafts Centre, allowing them to experience the creativity, talent and community that happens here every day.

We're incredibly grateful to our headline sponsor Specsavers, our event sponsors Ison Harrison and Hartlaw, our volunteers, performers, vendors and every single person who attended and supported the day.

Every penny raised will help Henshaws continue supporting people living with sight loss and other disabilities across the North of England, helping people build confidence, independence and connections. We can't wait to welcome everyone back again next year."

The £30,000 raised will help Henshaws continue providing support for disabled people across Yorkshire and the North of England, helping them develop confidence, independence and new opportunities through its services, including the Henshaws Arts & Crafts Centre in Knaresborough.
