Harrogate Mumbler is launching a new Welfare Hub at this year's Your Harrogate Stray Bonfire and Fireworks.
The hub will offer a safe, welcoming space for anyone needing extra support during the event on Saturday 7th November, presented by Harrogate District Round Table.
Led by Mumbler founder Sally Haslewood, the initiative will support children, teenagers and families attending the bonfire.
The idea came after Sally helped a young person who had become separated from her friends at last year’s event.
She had also seen lost children and cold, vulnerable teenagers at previous bonfires.
Visitors to the hub will be able to warm up, access drinking water, charge their phones and get help contacting friends or family.
Warm clothing and blankets will also be available.
Sally said:
“I love seeing our community come together for events like the Stray Bonfire, and I wanted to find a way for Mumbler to give something back.
"Sometimes, all someone needs is a friendly face, somewhere warm to sit and a bit of help getting in touch with their family or friends.
"It’s a simple idea, but I hope it will make a real difference. It’s about looking out for one another and making sure people know there’s somewhere they can turn if they need help.”
Mumbler is working with local volunteers and event organisers to run the hub, which will complement the bonfire’s existing safety provision.
It will not provide medical care or support serious incidents.
The Welfare Hub will operate from approximately 5pm to 9pm on Saturday 7th November.
