Families are being invited to join a glow-in-the-dark walk in Boston Spa to raise money for Martin House Children’s Hospice.
Glow Together takes place on Saturday 14th November at 4.30pm, with families encouraged to dress up and help support children and young people with life-shortening conditions.
The evening begins at Stables Lane Park, which will be lit up for the occasion, with a dress-up photo booth, face painting, lantern making and fairground games. Hot food will also be available.
A lantern parade through the park will mark the start of the walk, before families follow a circular route around Boston Spa.
Participants will stop at a series of glow points, including the Martin House shop, where they will receive a special token to take to the hospice.
Families will then return to Stables Lane for sparklers, marshmallow toasting and surprise entertainment.
Katy Hughes, Regional Events Fundraiser at Martin House, said:
“This is a really fun, fully accessible family event, with lots of activities to enjoy on the night. But there is also a serious message – we Glow Together to show that no family has to walk through the dark alone.
“Children will collect a special message from our mascot Marty Bear to bring back to Martin House as a way of showing this to them.
“Glow Together is an event where children really get excited about raising sponsorship, knowing they can do something to help the children who need the care of Martin House.”
Martin House supports babies, children and young people across North, West and East Yorkshire, alongside their families.
Its care includes planned short breaks, symptom control, emergency care, end-of-life care and bereavement support.
Entry costs £10 for adults and £2.50 for children, who are also encouraged to raise sponsorship ahead of the event.
Katy added:
“Raising £100 means that worried parents could have a consultation with one of the specialist doctors at Martin House if their child is unwell.
“We’d also like to thank our headline sponsor Taylor Wimpey, as their support means more of the money raised on the night will go towards caring for children and young people with life-shortening conditions.”
Families can find out more and sign up through the Martin House website.
