It’s been another successful month for Harrogate District swimming Club after local swimmers competed in the Yorkshires Long course championships.
Regional competition success for Harrogate swimming club It’s been another successful month for Harrogate District swimming Club after local swimmers competed in the Yorkshires Long course championships. The club’s swimmers achieved 28 individual medals across three weekends of competition, with over 40 swimmers taking part. This included 15 gold medals, 8 silver medals and 5 bronze medals. [caption id="attachment_101238" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] Harrogate swimmers at the Yorkshire Long Course Championships.[/caption] Leading the way was 13-year-old Lois Child, who came away with 8 gold medals after winning backstroke, fly and breaststroke races. 13-year-old Scarlett Dean won five gold medals in backstroke and freestyle, whilst Amelia Wright, 13, and Lily Standfield, 14, were also gold medal winners. Harrogate District Swimming Club also scooped two gold medals in the girls 13/14 years relays. Club Representative Brian Charlton praised the club’s success and all the swimmers for “putting Harrogate on the map” against the bigger city clubs.
