Mother and son duo set to run 62 miles for diabetes charity A mother and son duo from Boroughbridge are set to run 62 miles for charity. Amber Lilley and her 9-year-old son Milo plan to take on the challenge throughout March, running one mile before and after school every day. The pair will hit the streets around their home in Boroughbridge to fundraise for Diabetes UK. Amber suffers with type 1 Diabetes and said it is often like “walking a tightrope.” She said:
“Living with type 1 Diabetes affects every decision I make. As an invisible disease it’s often like walking a tightrope. “Though people often don’t see you balancing on that invisible rope, a constant balancing act and challenges are encountered on a daily basis in order to try and maintain healthy sugar levels. “I'm taking on this challenge, along with Milo, towards a healthier me and a better future for people living with and affected by diabetes.”Someone is diagnosed with diabetes every two minutes and there are more than 5 million people living with diabetes in the UK. Amber and Milo have already raised more than £600 ahead of their challenge, which starts tomorrow (1st March). To support their campaign, find their JustGiving page here.
