Giant Yorkshire pudding stunt to celebrate Yorkshire Day

Yorkshire-Man’s giant Yorkshire Pudding leap in 2025.

A giant Yorkshire pudding filled with gravy will take centre stage at York Maze this weekend as visitors celebrate Yorkshire Day.

The attraction's annual Yorkshire Day event returns on Saturday (1st August), culminating in a daring stunt from Yorkshire-Man, who will attempt to walk across a narrow beam suspended above the world's biggest Lancashire hotpot before diving into a giant Yorkshire pudding.

The Yorkshire pudding measures more than six feet in diameter and is filled with around 2,000 litres of gravy, while the giant Lancashire hotpot is topped with oversized slices of potato.

Yorkshire-Man said:

"In recent years I've celebrated Yorkshire Day at York Maze by diving into the world's biggest mug of Yorkshire tea.

"I've plunged into a giant Yorkshire pudding filled with gravy, and this year I'm risking it all by attempting to walk a narrow beam above a steaming bowl of Lancashire hotpot!

"As everyone knows, Lancashire hotpot is poisonous to Yorkshire-Man, so I have a giant Yorkshire pudding filled with gravy to dive into as the antidote in case I do come into contact with the Lancashire hotpot!"

Celebrations begin at 1pm with York Maze's traditional Yorkshire pudding tossing competition, where children and adults will compete to see who can throw a Yorkshire pudding the furthest.

The main stunt takes place at 2.45pm, with Yorkshire-Man dressed in his trademark yellow and green Lycra suit and flat cap.

Throughout the day, York Maze staff will also be wearing flat caps, visitors arriving in a flat cap will receive a complimentary mug of freshly brewed Yorkshire Tea, while the New York Brass Band and Yorkshire Rose face painting will add to the festivities.
