Harrogate site manager wins prestigious national building award

Paul Douglass has been recognised by the National House Building Council (NHBC).

A site manager overseeing the construction of new homes in Harrogate has been recognised as one of the best in the country.

Paul Douglass has won a prestigious Pride in the Job award from the National House Building Council (NHBC) for his work at Redrow's Kingsley Manor development on Kingsley Road.

The annual awards, often described as the "Oscars" of the housebuilding industry, recognise site managers who demonstrate exceptional standards across areas including quality, leadership, technical expertise and health and safety.

Paul, 54, has worked in the construction industry for 38 years, starting as a labourer before progressing through a number of roles to become a site manager. This is the second year in a row he has received the award.

He said:

"This is an award for all the team, I have a brilliant team around me. Kingsley Manor is now nearing its end and will soon be complete.

"As a team we are absolutely delighted to have received this award."

Across the country, Barratt Redrow site managers collected 122 Pride in the Job awards this year – more than any other housebuilder.

It marks the 22nd consecutive year the company has received more awards than any of its competitors.

John Handley, managing director at Redrow Yorkshire, said:

"These awards demonstrate our long-term commitment to looking after our customers and building high quality homes.

"They also showcase what it takes to be a top site manager, recognising the hard work from the entire team, including suppliers and contractors.

"Anyone who buys a home from a site with a Pride in the Job award winner knows their home has been built to the highest standard."

The NHBC Pride in the Job awards are designed to raise standards across the housebuilding industry by recognising excellence in site management and the delivery of high-quality new homes.
