A young footballer from Harrogate has signed for the Manchester United Girls Academy.
Matilda Kirk, who attends Saltergate Schools in Harrogate, has earned a place in the academy after impressing with her performances for the Halifax FC Girls Under-11 JPL side.
Her club announced the news this week, praising Matilda's "hard work, dedication and love for the game" and describing the opportunity as one she "fully deserves."
In a statement, the club said:
"Watching her grow and develop has been a pleasure, she embraces every session and fully deserves this recognition.
"Matilda will leave a huge hole in the team, not just because of her ability on the pitch, but because of the person she is.
"She has made such a positive impact on everyone at the club and will be truly missed."
Saltergate Schools also congratulated Matilda on her achievement, saying staff were "incredibly proud" of her.
The school said:
"[It's] an amazing opportunity and a testament to her hard work, dedication and talent.
"Everyone at school wishes her every success as she begins this exciting new chapter.
"We know she'll continue to work hard, enjoy every moment and be a wonderful ambassador for our school."
