Harrogate girl enjoys VIP trip to the races after winning art competition A Harrogate girl enjoyed a VIP day at Thirsk Races last week after winning Your Harrogate's latest competition. We teamed up with Thirsk Racecourse to ask budding young artists to design the racecard for the 'All Creatures Great and Small' family raceday. And the fantastic design from 8-year-old Ava Harris was selected as the winner. [caption id="attachment_78127" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] Ava's winning design was featured on the front cover of the racecard at Thirsk Racecourse.[/caption] As part of her prize, Ava went along to the raceday on Friday (1st September) with her mum Emma, and was given the VIP treatment. She even met TV star Peter Wright - AKA The Yorkshire Vet. Emma told Your Harrogate:
"We enjoyed a wonderful day at the races. "The staff at Thirsk were amazing and made a real fuss of Ava. "She had such a special day!"[caption id="attachment_78131" align="alignnone" width="960"] Winner: Ava Harris pictured alongside some of the other entries.[/caption] As part of the prize, Ava has also won entry to Lightwater Valley Adventure Park and 'The World of James Herriot' Museum in Thirsk.
