Harrogate volunteers give 180 hours to town centre clean-up

Volunteers have given 180 hours of their time to help spruce up Harrogate during four days of community action.

Harrogate BID’s latest Action Days brought together businesses, residents, community groups and partners to tackle jobs across the town centre.

The total more than doubled the original target of 80 volunteer hours, despite wet weather cutting some activities short on Friday and Saturday.

Volunteers picked litter, swept streets, weeded and deadheaded planters, and painted bollards, lamp posts, railings and bicycle racks.

They also cleaned street furniture and bins, cleared doorways and tidied areas around the town.

A spokesperson for Harrogate BID said:

“A huge thank you to everyone who gave up their time to get involved and help make Harrogate look its best. It’s been brilliant to see so many people getting stuck in and working together.”

They added:

"Keep an eye on our social media for details of the next Harrogate Action Days. Whether you’re a local business or an individual resident, everyone is welcome to get involved and help us keep Harrogate looking its best."
