Details revealed for return of Knaresborough Christmas market

The two-day Knaresborough Christmas Market is back this December.

Knaresborough Christmas Market will return this December with festive stalls, live music and a firework finale.

The two-day event will take place in the Market Place on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th December, running from 10am until 5pm each day.

Visitors can browse stalls and explore the town’s independent shops, with live musical entertainment planned across the weekend.

The event will finish with a firework display at 4.30pm on Sunday, visible from viewpoints overlooking the river. The display is expected to last around 15 minutes.

A spokesperson for the Knaresborough Christmas Market said:

“Join us on the weekend for a wonderful festive event in the picturesque North Yorkshire market town of Knaresborough, with quality stalls, independent shops, live musical entertainment, free park and ride and a spectacular firework finale.”

Visitors are also encouraged to explore Castlegate and Green Dragon Yard, take a stroll along Waterside and visit the Christmas Tree Festival at St John’s Church, featuring more than 70 decorated trees.

A free park and ride service will operate from the GSPK car park on Manse Lane, HG5 8LF, to Chapel Street, next to the Market Square.

Buses will run from 8am until 5.30pm on both days and will be accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

Organisers are urging visitors to use the service where possible, with road closures limiting parking near the market. Additional paid parking is available at Chapel Street, Fisher Street and York Place.

The market is organised by volunteers from Knaresborough Rotary, Knaresborough & District Chamber and Knaresborough Lions.

This year’s event is also supported by York and North Yorkshire Mayor David Skaith and part-funded by the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority through Eventure Knaresborough via the Vibrant and Sustainable High Streets Fund.
