New artwork, installations and projections can now be seen around Harrogate as part of the town's VE Day 80th anniversary commemorations.
The Harrogate Business Improvement District (BID) team have offered funding, alongside the Charter Trustees of Harrogate, to create the displays.
The team has created a commemorative plan for the town, which will also feature a contained commemoration around the Cenotaph area tomorrow (Thursday) on the date of the VE Day 80th anniversary.
Matthew Chapman, Harrogate BID Chief Executive, said:
“We’re honoured to deliver this commemorative plan on behalf of not only the influential partners we’ve worked alongside, but our town as a whole.
“VE Day is a key time for remembrance, reflection and celebration – so we felt it was very important to mark such a fundamental milestone.
“We now look forward to hosting the commemoration ceremony tomorrow and thank everyone that has been involved in the planning and organisation stages.”
Both Union Jack and red, white and blue flag bunting now lines the town centre streets, while the BID’s creative lighting along Beulah Street and around the Cenotaph has also been changed to match a similar colour scheme.
The BID has worked alongside Charter Mayor Cllr Chris Aldred, Charter Trustees for Harrogate, The Royal British Legion, St Peter’s Church, Harrogate Army Foundation College, the Harrogate Band and the Air and Sea Cadets to bring this plan to fruition.
