A woman has died following a collision on the A59 near Flaxby yesterday afternoon (Wednesday 7th October).
The collision happened at approximately 3.30pm and involved a black Vauxhall Corsa travelling towards Harrogate.
The female driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage, including from anyone who saw the Corsa in the moments before the collision.
Officers also want to speak to the driver of a white HGV travelling in the opposite direction, who may have information that could help their enquiries.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said:
“Our thoughts are with her loved ones at this very difficult time.”
The road was closed while specialist collision investigators carried out examinations. In their statement yesterday, police advised motorists to avoid the area and use alternative routes.
Anyone with information should email SCIU@northyorkshire.police.uk or visit the North Yorkshire Police website, select ‘Tell us about’ and then ‘An existing case or report’.
The force’s online live chat is also available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Anyone unable to use these options can call 101.
