Harrogate charities and community groups are being invited to apply for a share of £50,000 from Harrogate Brigantes Rotary.
The club has opened applications for the second round of its Legacy Fund, with grants of up to £10,000 available to locally-led organisations operating in Harrogate.
It follows an initial round in 2024, when £50,000 was distributed between 14 organisations after 65 applications were received.
The Happy Wanderers Ambulance Organisation and Resurrected Bites each received £10,000.
Other beneficiaries included Coppice Valley Primary School, Harrogate Hospital Radio and Saint Michael’s Hospice.
The fund was established following a bequest from local resident and friend of the club, Dennis Smith, who wanted to support organisations making a difference to community wellbeing.
This round will particularly support capital projects that deliver lasting benefits.
Applications for running costs will also be considered where they contribute to an identifiable and sustainable development.
Harrogate Brigantes Rotary President Guy Wilson said:
“The first round showed us both the extraordinary work taking place across our district and the level of need among local organisations.
“We were delighted to support 14 excellent projects in 2024, from accessible transport and hospice equipment to the restoration of community and school facilities.
“We are now looking forward to hearing from another wide range of charities, schools and community groups. If your organisation has a project that could make a real and lasting difference locally, we encourage you to read the guidance and apply.”
Harrogate Mayor Councillor Viv Poskitt and Lizzie Hughes, Interim CEO of Harrogate & District Community Action, will join this year’s judging panel.
They will sit alongside returning judge Matthew Stamford, Director of Verity Frearson, Guy Wilson and past Harrogate Brigantes President Peter Wood.
Applications close on 30th November 2026, with guidance available on the Harrogate Brigantes Rotary website.
Successful applicants will be informed in December before being announced at a celebration evening at Oakdale Golf Club on 14th January.
