Harrogate footballer Louie Philpott has signed his first professional contract with Leeds United.

The former St John Fisher pupil has agreed a two-year deal, keeping him at the club’s Thorp Arch academy until 2028.

The left-back progressed into the Under-21s towards the end of last season and scored his first Premier League 2 goal against Manchester United.

A spokesperson for St John Fisher said:

"Louie follows in a rich tradition of successful footballers to pass through our school.

"Well done Louie! Best wishes from all of us at SJF."

Louie had already spent six years in Leeds United’s academy, progressing through the Under-16s and earning an appearance for the Under-18s.

A Leeds United spokesperson said:

“Everyone at Leeds United would like to congratulate Louie on signing a first professional deal."
