A new library has been officially unveiled at Starbeck Primary Academy following a year-long project to transform an underused room.
The Mayor of Harrogate Viv Poskitt opened the space on Wednesday evening (7th October), alongside Councillor Aldred.
The project was supported by a grant awarded to Friends of Starbeck School by the Starbeck Community Grant Panel, which Councillor Aldred was part of.

The refurbished library includes a dedicated sensory area and a wall mural featuring much-loved book characters.
Kirsty Bloor, Chair of Friends of Starbeck School, said:
“The project has been a year in the making, transforming an underused room into a welcoming learning environment for all pupils to enjoy.
“The aim is to inspire a love of reading and provide a space where children can explore books, learn and let their imaginations flourish.
“The newly refurbished library includes a dedicated sensory area and a beautiful wall mural featuring much-loved book characters, making it a colourful and inviting space for the whole school.”

There are hopes to open the library to the wider community in the future and work in partnership with Starbeck Library to encourage reading among people of all ages.
Friends of Starbeck School thanked the Starbeck Community Grant Panel for helping to make the project possible.
