A Ripon restaurant is celebrating after being named 'Best Bangladeshi Restaurant of the Year' at the English Curry Awards 2026.
Jaflong Indian & Bangladeshi Restaurant picked up the accolade at the 15th annual awards, with the team describing the achievement as an "incredible moment."
The restaurant has thanked its loyal customers, staff and the wider Ripon community for their support.
Owner Salauddin Khan said:
"What an incredible moment! Standing on that stage, holding the award, I was honestly speechless.
"I didn't know what to say or how to explain what I was feeling.
"My biggest wish at that moment was that my father was still alive so I could share this wonderful news with him.
"Life doesn't always give us the people we wish could be there for our biggest moments, but I know he would have been incredibly proud."
Salauddin also paid tribute to the team, including Shawon, Amir, Parvin and Leikken, as well as its kitchen staff.
The owner added:
"This award belongs to all of us. We are so proud of everyone who has been part of the Jaflong journey — our amazing and loyal customers who have become part of the Jaflong family, and our incredible team.
"Without your hard work, passion and commitment, this achievement would not have been possible."
Salauddin also thanked everyone who nominated and supported the restaurant at this year's awards.
He added:
"A huge thank you to the Ripon community for coming together, celebrating with us and continuing to support our restaurant.
"Your support means more than you know."
