Ripon pub wins Global Recognition Award - just months after opening

The Furlong and Furrow in Ripon.

A Ripon pub and restaurant has received a Global Recognition Award just months after opening its doors.

The Furlong and Furrow, run by Laura and James Davis, opened in May and has been recognised in the Startup of the Year category.

The business said the award came as a surprise, with the recognition highlighting its customer service, support for local causes and role within the Ripon community.

The Furlong and Furrow has also received five-star ratings on both TripAdvisor and Google Reviews since opening.

Announcing the news, the team said:

“How lovely. We weren't expecting this!

“And not sure where it's come from but thank you so much to The Global Recognition Awards, such a lovely write up.

“And thank you to all of you wonderful people who have supported us and made us feel so welcome here.

“We couldn't do any of this without the amazing support of the gorgeous Ripon community and beyond and, of course, our exceptional team.”

The Global Recognition Awards said The Furlong and Furrow had been recognised for building a “service-focused hospitality venue” which had earned consistent customer approval and supported local causes.

It also highlighted the work carried out by Laura and James to renovate the venue and establish the business during a challenging period for the hospitality industry.

Alex Sterling, a spokesperson for Global Recognition Awards, said:

“The Furlong and Furrow has earned recognition because its owners have paired strong customer service with a genuine commitment to the community around them.”

Laura and James have also been nominated in the Harrogate Hospitality Awards, for Host of the Year and Chef of the Year respectively.
