New independent bookshop set to open on Parliament Street

The Real Indie Bookshop will open in place of Prey Four.

A new independent bookshop is set to open in Harrogate town centre this autumn.

The Real Indie Bookshop will launch on Parliament Street in October, with renovation work currently underway ahead of its opening.

The new business is being launched by author Christina Gabbitas and will be in the unit formerly occupied by Prey Four.

She told Your Harrogate:

“I’m delighted to share the news of our upcoming bookshop, which will shine a spotlight on independent publishers that often don’t receive the recognition they deserve.

"Many talented authors have created incredible works that I’m excited to feature alongside the latest popular titles. Beyond books, our shop will also carry a variety of newspapers, comics, and distinctive gifts that showcase my personal taste.

"We’ll open our doors at 8AM each day, perfect for those in need of a quick coffee to take with them on their way to work.

"Plus, we’ll have four inviting tables for anyone who wants to relax, sip their coffee, and read!"

Work to transform the premises is being carried out by JDM Shop Projects.

Further details about the new bookshop, including its exact opening date, are expected to be announced closer to the launch.
