Ripon Grammar School has earned recognition alongside some of the UK's leading independent schools and private education providers in the LUXlife Private Education Awards.

The North of England Grammar School of the Year is a notable achievement for RGS as, while it is a state-funded grammar school, its successful boarding provision means it occupies a unique position within the education sector.

The school’s combination of exceptional academic standards, outstanding pastoral care and affordable boarding enables it to compete with - and stand out among - private education providers.

Headmaster Jonathan Webb said:

“We are incredibly proud to receive this award. It is particularly meaningful because it recognises that a state school can deliver an educational and boarding experience that rivals the very best in the independent sector.

“Our boarding community enriches the whole school and creates opportunities for students from a wide range of backgrounds to thrive.”

Since launching in 2021, the LUXlife Private Education Awards have recognised organisations demonstrating excellence in teaching, innovation, leadership and student support across the global private education sector.

Winners are selected on merit and celebrated for creating meaningful opportunities for young people.

Awards coordinator Melissa Bramall said:

“We’re proud to recognise the commitment of such compassionate, empathetic, and caring individuals who form the integral teams within the private education market around the globe.

“I want to wish our winners all the best for the future ahead and another sincere round of applause for their accomplishments thus far.”

The award reinforces Ripon Grammar School’s reputation for combining exceptional academic outcomes with an inclusive boarding experience, offering families the benefits of a world-class education within the state sector.

The school, named by The Sunday Times as 'The Top State School in the North' for 12 years, is one of the few UK grammar schools to offer boarding and welcomes students from across the UK and overseas.
