Pannal Players will bring the curtain down on four decades of pantomimes with a farewell production of Snow White.
The group’s 40th anniversary show will run at Pannal Village Hall from Wednesday 10th to Saturday 13th February 2027.
Billed as ‘Forty and Farewell’, it will be the group’s last production, with declining audiences and an increased administrative burden behind the decision.
Pannal Players staged its first pantomime, Aladdin, in 1987 and has performed every year since, apart from 2021 due to Covid.
Productions have ranged from traditional favourites such as Cinderella and Snow White to pantomime versions of Toy Story and The Sound of Music.
Michael Newby, chair of Pannal Players, said:
“Although a lot of us have connections to Pannal very few of us actually live in the village and with declining audiences and an increased administrative burden we have reluctantly decided to call it a day”
The group hopes former members and supporters will return to celebrate its final show.
Michael said:
"We hope that this will be a special production for us, and for our audiences.
"We certainly want to go out with a bang rather than a whimper and hope that many of the people who have been involved in the past will come along to support our final production."
Pannal Players has raised thousands of pounds for the Teenage and Young Persons Cancer Ward at St James Hospital in memory of former member Joanna Luty.
Michael added:
“Pannal Players have raised thousands of pounds over the years for the Teenage and Young Persons Cancer Ward at St James Hospital in memory of Joanna Luty, a past member.
"It is important that we make one last big effort in this our final year”
Early bird tickets are now on sale, priced at £6 for Wednesday and Thursday performances and £7 for Friday and Saturday, including the Saturday matinee.
These prices will be held until 31st December.
