New visitor information centre to be unveiled in Harrogate

The West Park Centre in Harrogate.

A new visitor information centre celebrating Harrogate's rich heritage and history is set to be officially unveiled next week.

The new Visitor Information Centre will be launched at the West Park Centre on Tuesday 23rd June by Harrogate’s Mayor, Cllr Viv Poskitt.

Based within the Grade II-listed United Reformed Church on the corner of Victoria Avenue and West Park, the centre aims to welcome both visitors and local residents looking to learn more about the town.

Information available will include heritage resources, maps, leaflets, suggested walks and details of upcoming local events.

The project has been made possible through funding secured by the West Park Centre from the Vibrant and Sustainable High Street Fund, established by the Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, David Skaith.

Run entirely by volunteers, the new facility is housed in a building that has itself played a significant role in Harrogate’s history.

The church formed part of the original Victoria Park development and has welcomed visitors to the spa town for generations.

Today, it continues to serve as both an active place of worship and a community centre, hosting cultural events and an exhibition exploring Harrogate’s past.
