A Harrogate corner shop has installed new signage in memory of Claire Lewis, who ran the business for many years.
Number One Shop on Electric Avenue now bears the name “Claire’s No.1 Shop” in a tribute to the shopkeeper, who died in May.
The sign sits above the entrance, where a new door has also been fitted.
Claire was a familiar face in the New Park community, known for greeting customers with “Hello flower” and often working seven days a week.
Following her death, customers and neighbours left flowers, cards and messages outside the shop.
A fundraising appeal organised by Will Tee raised £2,000 to help her family with funeral costs.
And residents have now welcomed the new signage honouring her memory.
One resident said:
“A lovely tribute to such a special lady! [She’s] missed very much.”
Another added:
“I saw this earlier and it made me smile.”
A third said:
“A fitting tribute to a special lady. Miss you Claire.”
