A 20-year-old man has been arrested after an e-bike rider allegedly failed to stop for police and narrowly missed a pedestrian in Harrogate.
Officers were patrolling York Place at around 10.15pm on Sunday (11th October) when they spotted an e-bike rider wearing a balaclava heading onto the Empress roundabout towards Knaresborough Road.
Police said the rider had failed to stop for other officers minutes earlier.
When officers activated their blue lights, the rider allegedly failed to stop again and travelled down Granby Road, joining the footpath and narrowly missing a pedestrian.
The rider then headed across The Stray, adjacent to Skipton Road, with officers continuing the pursuit off-road.
After turning onto Claro Road and then Ainsty Road, the rider attempted to mount a kerb but lost control and fell from the bike. No injuries were reported.
A 20-year-old man from the Harrogate area was detained and arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving and driving without insurance.
Police said cannabis was found during a search of the man, who was further arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis.
He remained in custody at the time of the police update while the investigation continued.
