Yorkshire Agricultural Society chief executive steps down

Allister Nixon has stepped down as chief executive of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society (YAS).

Allister Nixon has stepped down as chief executive of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society following recent health issues.

His departure follows a period of absence and brings his four years leading the charity to a close.

During his tenure, Allister oversaw the introduction of the Society’s values, a rebrand of the charity and its family of businesses, and the refurbishment of Fodder.

Allister said:

“My recent health issues have given me cause and opportunity for much reflection, and I have decided that this is the right time for me to move on to my next chapter.

“It has been a real privilege to lead this incredible organisation and work alongside such a dedicated team.

"We do amazing things here, and I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together during my tenure. I wish the organisation and everyone in it continued success.”

The Society’s Board of Trustees, led by Chairman Paul Russell, will oversee the leadership transition.

Society Manager David Tite will oversee the running of the charity, while Commercial Director Graham Thompson will run its commercial venues, supported by the Senior Management Team.

Paul said:

“We would like to thank Allister for his commitment over the last four years and wish him well with his recovery and next chapter.

“The Board is confident that David and Graham, supported by Trustees and the SMT will lead the charity successfully as the team prepare for a busy Christmas season ahead.”
