Ripon teenager Betsy Radcliffe has achieved national success after helping her Grangetown club qualify for the U14 National Finals.
Held at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield, the prestigious competition brought together 18 of the best netball clubs from across the country.
Grangetown Netball Club secured their place after finishing in the top two teams in the Durham and Cleveland regional league, which is played throughout the winter season.
Competing against the strongest clubs in England, Grangetown finished in an impressive 11th place overall.
Betsy, 14, from Dishforth, began playing netball in Year 3 with Ripon Rockets before joining Grangetown in Year 8.
Inspired by her mother, Georgie, who plays, coaches and umpires the sport, Betsy has developed into a talented and dedicated athlete.
Reflecting on her achievements, Betsy said:
“My netball highlight has to be going to the nationals - it was the best experience.
"I’ve also loved being part of the North Yorkshire county netball squad.”
Her journey has not been without challenges. She successfully earned a place on a highly competitive national squad, overcoming two ankle injuries along the way.
Away from the netball court, Betsy enjoys horse riding and has previously represented Ripon Grammar School at the National Schools Equestrian Association (NSEA) championships, reaching the national finals two years ago.
Looking ahead, she hopes to secure a place in the Leeds Rhinos U15 squad next season.
She is also considering a future career in law.
Betsy’s mother, Georgie, said:
“As a mum, I’m incredibly proud of Betsy. She has worked so incredibly hard and playing for a performance club is no mean feat.
"It can be incredibly cut-throat, but she has shown great resilience and maturity and has definitely grown as both a player and a person.”
