Knaresborough Town Football Club has announced the appointment of two new managing directors.
The club has appointed experienced non-league football figures Rob Northfield and Neil Reaney.
The duo were officially introduced at the Myrings Stadium, where they spoke of their enthusiasm for helping guide the club into its next chapter.
For Neil, the appointment represents something of a homecoming.
With deep family ties to the club, he said returning to Knaresborough Town was an opportunity he couldn't ignore.
He said:
"It feels like coming home. Knaresborough Town is part of my heritage and part of the heritage of the whole community.
"I've been welcomed back really nicely and it's great to be helping out this fantastic football club."
Neil explained that his involvement began almost by chance after meeting club chairman Paul Howard while passing the ground.
That conversation led to sponsorship through Gemma and Simon Myring before discussions developed into a leadership role.
Rob Northfield arrives with a wealth of experience across non-league football, having previously been involved with Tadcaster Albion, Guiseley and Harrogate Railway.
Although he admits he had no previous connection with Knaresborough Town, he was persuaded to take on the role after initially turning down the opportunity.
He said:
"I'd just stepped away from Harrogate Railway and wanted a break.
"The club kept asking and asking, and after the sportsman's dinner with all the sponsors, I decided it was the right time to get involved."
A passionate advocate for non-league football, Northfield believes its close relationship between players, supporters and volunteers is what makes it special.
He said:
"The banter is fantastic and it's all about the local community.
"It's about raising the bar, creating enthusiasm and getting the club moving forward."
The pair's immediate focus is on building a stronger leadership structure within the club.
Rather than directing volunteers, they want to create a positive culture where everyone plays a part in the club's future.
Neil said:
"This is the first leadership meeting we've had. We're not here to tell people what to do. We're here to drive a different culture and a more professional attitude.
"We want to make sure we do the right things for the players, officials and supporters. If we get the culture and DNA right, then we can add value to the football club, whether that's new pitches, a new stand or whatever the future holds."
Rob added:
"If you're a leader, you need to get off your backside and do something.
"If you can give people belief that they can achieve things they've never done before, that's where success starts.
"My history tells me that every club I've been involved with has won something. So let's win something here."
