Harrogate Town has announced that its home ground will be renamed the Marcy Fitness Stadium ahead of the new season.
The club says the rename marks a "significant new chapter" in the club's partnership with the company formerly known as Exercise.
The renaming comes as Marcy celebrates its 80th anniversary, cementing its status as one of the oldest and most influential fitness brands in the world.
The move reflects an exciting new era for the stadium name sponsors, whose products are sold in almost 50 countries around the world, including the UK, available through leading retailers including Argos, Boots, Costco, Decathlon, Very.com and Fitshop.
As part of the partnership, the club's Rothwell training ground will undergo a comprehensive re-fit with state-of-the-art Marcy equipment, providing players and staff with access to industry-leading fitness technology.
David Gilson is the Managing Director of Pure-tec Limited (Exercise), the official and exclusive distributor of Marcy Fitness products in the UK and Europe.
He said:
“Exercise has proudly sponsored the Harrogate Town stadium for the past two seasons, but as the company moves into a new and exciting era of international expansion, the time is right to focus on our core brand, Marcy, which celebrates its 80th anniversary this year.
"The new Marcy Fitness Stadium illustrates our commitment to continuing the legacy of Dr. Walter Marcyan, and look forward to sharing his principles of fitness, health and wellbeing with the team, supporters and wider community”.
Founded in 1946, the brand revolutionised fitness by helping to create the blueprint for the modern commercial gym industry and providing the means to exercise at home by inventing the first ‘home multi-gym’ in 1959.
Speaking about the announcement, Ben Rome, strength and conditioning coach at Harrogate Town AFC said:
"This is a hugely exciting moment for the club. To be working alongside a global brand with the heritage, reputation and ambition of Marcy is a significant step for us.
"The renaming of the Marcy Fitness Stadium reflects the strength of our partnership and the shared vision we have for the future.
"The investment into our training facilities and first-team environment will have a real impact, and we are looking forward to entering this new era together."
The Marcy Fitness Stadium name will take effect immediately, with branding across the club’s physical and digital assets already underway.
