Harrogate Rugby Club gears up for Beer Festival and Family Fun Day this Saturday

All set at Harrogate Rugby Club

Harrogate Rugby Club is inviting families, rugby fans and beer lovers to its annual Beer Festival and Family Fun Day this Saturday, 11th July.

The event, now in its third year, raises money to help maintain the club's 28-acre site and support its growing rugby community.

Commercial Chairman Mike Cowling says there's something for everyone to enjoy throughout the day.

"It's the third time we've run it.

It's the Harrogate Rugby Beer Festival and Family Fun Day. We call it a family fun day because we've got lots of things for kids.

We've got a bouncy castle, silent discos, arts and crafts and plenty of activities to keep younger visitors entertained."

Alongside the family attractions, adults can enjoy a selection of craft beers from local breweries, as well as a fully stocked bar and a programme of live music.

With warm weather forecast, organisers are hoping for another successful day.

The festival plays an important role in helping fund the club's facilities on Rudding Lane, which are used by hundreds of players every week as Mike explains:

"We've got 400 junior members, a growing ladies' and girls' section, walking rugby and we've just started touch and pass.

There's all kinds of activities going on here, but we always need to keep fundraising to maintain the ground and keep the facilities in the best condition possible.

We just want to make it a great day and a great night for everybody."

Saturday will also showcase many of those activities, including the club's first-ever Walking Rugby Festival, welcoming teams from York, Pocklington, Wath and Harrogate for matches on the main pitch until 3pm.

Visitors can also take part in a turn-up-and-play touch rugby session during the afternoon.

England fans won't miss any of the action either, with the Nations Championship match against Fiji being shown live on the clubhouse's big screen from 2pm.

Five local live acts will perform throughout the afternoon and evening, before attention turns to the football later in the night as the FIFA Club World Cup quarter final between England and Norway will also be shown live on the venue's big screens.

For those planning to come later in the day, reduced-price evening entry is open from 6pm and free overnight parking will also be available, should visitors choose to make their way home safely by taxi if needed.

Tickets are available here.
