Independent retailers on Harrogate’s Commercial Street have launched their annual Christmas chocolate appeal.
The Commercial Street Retailers Group is collecting chocolate selection boxes, tubs of chocolates and chocolate biscuits for two local causes.
Donations will support the Woodlands Children’s Ward at Harrogate District Hospital through Harrogate Hospital Community Charity.
The appeal will also support New Beginnings, a peer-led service for women and their children in North Yorkshire who have previously experienced domestic abuse.
The retailers say Christmas chocolate typically has expiry dates well into the new year, meaning surplus donations from supermarkets and manufacturers are not available when needed for the festive season.
They are asking shoppers to help by donating Christmas treats at Lilly’s Café, 24 Commercial Street, Harrogate, HG1 1TY.
