Harrogate furniture reuse charity Essential Needs has helped furnish a new property for local homeless charity Lifeline Harrogate.
The property is Lifeline’s eighth and will support people who are homeless or vulnerably housed, including those who have experienced abuse.
Essential Needs, which has supported households experiencing furniture poverty for three decades, worked with Lifeline to select and deliver furniture for the new accommodation.
Lee Wright, Manager at Essential Needs, said:
“Our whole ethos is around supporting people in furniture poverty so, as well as working closely with Lifeline Harrogate and other local charities to support their clients with furniture items when they take on a tenancy, we’re also delighted to support local charities when they need help with furniture items for their hostels and properties.
“The work Lifeline Harrogate does within the community is truly inspiring, stepping in when people really are in desperate need, so we were delighted to be able to help when they approached us for support.
"Working together to select the right pieces and with our delivery team ensuring everything was the perfect fit, we were able to furnish the new property, ensuring it feels welcoming and homely.”
Essential Needs supports around 650 people and families across the district each year, alongside local charities needing furniture for their premises and clients.

Donations enable it to reuse and redistribute approximately 10,000 items of furniture, household goods and white goods.
Ruth Skaife-Clarke, Fundraising and Office Manager at Lifeline Harrogate, said:
“Lifeline is so grateful to Essential Needs who once again have helped us by providing some beautiful and much needed items of furniture for our houses.
"As a charity ourselves, it is such a help to be able to afford to keep our houses furnished to a high standard and we couldn’t possibly do this if we had to buy everything new.
"The quality of the furniture is always very good and we would always encourage local people to donate their unwanted furniture to Essential Needs, as it makes such a difference to individuals and charities who really are in need.”
Essential Needs is based behind the Leeds Road shops on Back Gladstone Street, Harrogate, HG2 8DF.
