Former England footballer backs launch of new Knaresborough restaurant A brand new bar and restaurant is already proving popular with the Knaresborough community - and a former footballer who lives in the area. Ex-Leeds United and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson is a regular at 1858 Bar and Restaurant on Knaresborough's High Street. 1858 officially opened on 24th August in the former NatWest bank, which closed in 2017. The venue is named after the year the building was constructed and provides lunch and evening meals, Sunday roasts and drinks. He told Your Harrogate:
“I love the character and the respect that 1858 have paid to the old building. The new development brings something new to the High Street and to Knaresborough. "It’s a tight knit community and everyone helps each other out in this industry and this is just another fantastic addition to the town centre."The menu at 1858 includes dishes from the grill, burgers, seafood and vegetarian dishes. But it's the Sunday lunches that have proven most popular with diners thus far. Speaking about the food, Paul said:
“The owner Jaime is a good friend of mine and so we got to sample quite a few of the taster menus. "Sunday lunch was pretty spectacular along with the other menu which they’re still adapting and working on during the week. "It certainly brings something a bit different that Knaresborough hasn’t got and it’s just a really nice dining experience that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed so far."[caption id="attachment_80355" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] Former England footballer Paul Robinson spoke to Your Harrogate's Pete Egerton at 1858 Bar and Restaurant.[/caption] 1858 is open from 12pm-10pm on Monday to Wednesday and 12pm-11pm from Thursday to Sunday.
