A blaze broke out at the tea and coffee factory on Plumpton Park at around 7:30am. The building was evacuated shortly after. There were no injuries. A total of six fire engines were called to tackle the fire which is believed to have started in the roof ducting at the premises. And firefighters have revealed the cause was in a tea silo during the hot process where a piece of filter paper ignited. The North Yorkshire Fire & rescue log reads:
"Crews from Harrogate, Knaresborough, Ripon, Tadcaster and Wetherby responded to a fire at an industrial property. "The fire started in a tea silo before spreading in to the dust extraction vents. "This was caused during the hot process where a piece of filter paper ignited. "Crews used 6 breathing apparatus and 1 hose reel jet to extinguish the fire in the ducting in the roof. Crews then carried out a full inspection to ensure the fire was extinguished."The fire service left the scene at around 9:30am. Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here.
