Choosing what comes after GCSEs is a big decision – and Harrogate Grammar School is inviting students to explore the possibilities at its upcoming Sixth Form Open Evening.
On Wednesday 21st October, prospective students and their families can step inside the sixth form, discover the subjects available and hear from the people who know it best.
With sessions running from 4pm to 6pm and 6:30pm to 8:30pm, visitors will have the chance to meet teachers, explore dedicated study facilities and chat with current students about life beyond Year 11.
Whether students are looking towards university, an apprenticeship or a future career, the evening offers an opportunity to ask questions and get a feel for where their next steps could take them.
Mr Twitchin, Director of Sixth Form, said:
“Our core purpose is to provide ‘excellence for all’, and this underpins everything that we do in encouraging students to be the best that they can be.
“With our welcoming atmosphere, modern facilities, outstanding teaching and excellent results, we believe that The Sixth Form at Harrogate Grammar School is a truly special place where all students can grow and flourish.”
Alongside specialist teaching, students can take part in leadership and enrichment opportunities designed to build confidence, independence and valuable life skills.

The open evening will give visitors the chance to find out how those opportunities fit around their studies, with current sixth formers sharing their experiences and answering questions about academic expectations and student life.
It follows the school’s recent Ofsted inspection, which recognised high levels of achievement, rich experiences and students’ progression to ambitious destinations.
Mr Twitchin added:
“Our Open Evening is a fantastic opportunity for students and families to discover what life is really like here.
“You will be able to view our facilities, meet staff and students, explore the subjects available and gain an understanding of the opportunities that await you.
“We encourage everyone considering their post-16 options to come along, ask questions and see for themselves what makes our sixth form such a special place to study.”
Students, parents and carers are welcome to attend the Sixth Form Open Evening at Harrogate Grammar School on Wednesday 21st October, from 4–6pm or 6:30–8:30pm.
