A new family-friendly 5K fun run raising money for children and young people's mental health services is set to take place at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal this summer.
The Go Bright Fun Run, organised by Mind in Harrogate District and supported by the National Trust, will be held on Sunday 19th July, with participants invited to run, jog or walk through the historic grounds of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The event starts at 9am and aims to bring together people of all ages and abilities while raising funds for Mind in Harrogate District’s Children and Young People’s Mental Health service.
Runners will enjoy a scenic route through Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal, taking in parkland, riverside paths and views of the abbey ruins.
The event is not timed, allowing participants to complete the course at their own pace.
This year’s theme is “Go Bright for mental health”, with entrants encouraged to wear bright colours and fancy dress.
Organisers are also planning prizes for the best-dressed adult, child and dog.
Every entry will help fund specialist mental health support for children and young people across the Harrogate district.
Tina Chamberlain, CEO of Mind in Harrogate District, said:
“Go Bright is about bringing people together in a beautiful setting to do something positive for themselves and for local young people.
“Every person who signs up helps us continue supporting children and young people across our district with their mental health - and we’re proud to be working in partnership with the National Trust to make this special event possible at Fountains Abbey.”
The charity says the event is open to adults, children, teams and dogs, while prams and wheelchairs are also welcome on the accessible route, which includes some hilly sections.
Tickets are priced at £15 for adults, £12 for children and free for under-fives, with team entries also available.
The Go Bright Fun Run forms part of the National Trust’s Summer of Play programme, which encourages families to spend time outdoors and enjoy activities together during the summer holidays.
