Renowned Harrogate Café Bettys has been named among the best bakeries in the world.
The family-owned business, which has five locations across Yorkshire, has been included in La Liste’s Pastry Awards, which classify and celebrate the best pastry shops in the world.
And although it wasn’t named as a winner across the 10 categories, Bettys was still recommended as one of 3,000 pastry shops worldwide that is worth a visit.
La Liste looks at crowdsourced guides and those compiled by experts, including the likes of TripAdvisor and Michelin, to determine its winners and finalists.
A spokesperson said:
“This is the world’s first comprehensive list of pastry shops using a similar methodology to restaurants, the list encompasses the crème de la crème of pastry shops, bakeries, coffee shops, Afternoon teas, desert restaurants in more than 80 countries.”
The only UK winner from La Liste’s Pastry Awards 2024 was Darcie Maher’s Lannan in Edinburgh.
But four bakeries in York were featured, as well as 101 from London.
