Harrogate community groups invited to apply for share of £74,000

Harrogate Town Council supported the expansion of Harrogate & District Community Action's Power of 10 programme.

Community groups and charities in Harrogate are being invited to apply for a share of more than £74,000 in grant funding.

Harrogate Town Council’s Small Grants Scheme will support local projects, activities, events and improvements that benefit people living in the town.

Grants of up to £5,000 are normally available, with applications closing on Tuesday 15th September.

The scheme includes £24,045 for community projects, services and activities, alongside £50,000 for infrastructure and capital projects.

Applications are welcomed from community groups, voluntary organisations, charities and other not-for-profit bodies.

Cllr Mark Warr, Chair of the council’s Finance and General Purposes Committee, said:

“There is often a real need for financial support to start and run projects that can make a real difference to local residents.

“We hope that the recent launch of our Small Grants Scheme will help local community groups, charities and partner organisations fund some of their work.

“I would like to encourage as many as possible to apply to our Small Grants Scheme before the deadline of 15th September 2026.”

The council previously awarded Harrogate Round Table £1,000 towards the 2025 Harrogate Stray Bonfire.

That funding helped cover the cost of portable toilets for the free event, which attracted thousands of residents and visitors and cost more than £16,000 to stage.

Cllr Warr added:

“The application process is not onerous and support is available from our website, where applicants can also see examples of previous grants awarded, or over the phone from our office team on 01423 642542.”

Eligible applications will be considered by the council’s Finance and General Purposes Committee on 11th November, with applicants expected to receive a decision by 30th November.
